CKAIT, the member organisation of ECCE for the Czech Republic, is the recognised
qualifying body and registration point for the profession of civil engineering;
it has a status equivalent to other state organisations by law. The
Chamber was founded in 1992, and in less than 10 years had around 16,000 civil
engineers and technicians as members. Learned
society activity is carried out through the Czech Institution of Structural and
Civil Engineers (CSSI) whose secretariat is located at the same Prague address. CSSI has approximately 4,000 individual members who have at
least a Master of Science degree in civil engineering. CSSI membership is voluntary. CSSI and CKAIT’s role is to:
maintain a level of technical quality within the various branches and
specialisations, to protect interests of its clients during area planning, the
preparation of project documentation, the protection and preservation of the
environment as well as the construction process itself.
