Structure: Professional association with member associations and individual members. Civil engineers can practice when they are awarded the title “Diplom-Ingenieur”.  A “Beratender Ingenieur” (consulting engineer) must be registered on the chamber of Engineers list.  Membership of professional organisations such as the Union Beratender Ingenieure is voluntary.
