Kuopio, Finland 1st-3rd December 2003

ECCE is a scientific sponsor of the Integrated Lifetime Engineering of Buildings and Civil Infrastructures for which ECCE member organisation RIL is one of the main sponsors.  Symposium themes include ownership planning and management of investments, integrated life-cycle design, lifetime management systems, integration and design of management process, norms, standards and guidelines and best practice.  Details (in English) : http://www.ril.fi/Resource.phx/seminaari/semi-ilcdes/index.htx  

 

Istanbul,Turkey, 15th-17th April 2004

The Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers will host the 17th IMO Technical Conference at the Yildiz Technical University on 15th to 17th April 2004.  Conference languages will be English and Turkish.  Subjects to be discussed will include civil engineering education, providing urban earthquake security and the importance of education in civil engineering nationally and internationally.  Representative groups will be present form 46 universities.  There will also be 150 student delegates.

Cavtat, Croatia,  22nd to 24th April 2004

The Congress of Croatian Builders will hold its 2004 Congress in Cavtat, near Dubrovnik.   Participants will review latest achievements in the Croatian construction industry, results obtained in the reconstruction of buildings, houses and industrial plants and ongoing work on development projects.

About our Executive Committee

 Yrjoe Matikainen of Finland has been ECCE President since 2002.  For 20 years he was Managing Director of the Association of Finnish Civil Engineers “RIL”.

Professor Carsten Ahrens of Germany is Senior Vice-President.  He teaches geotechnics at the Fachhochschule in Oldenburg in northern Germany.

Vasillis Economopoulos of the Association of Civil Engineers of Greece is the Honorary Treasurer.  In his professional capacity he is Managing Director of Athens Metro.

Professor Antonio Adao da Fonseca of Portugal is the immediate Past-President.   He combines an academic career with that of a design engineer in Portugal’s second city, Oporto.

Other Executive Committee members are:

 Professor Iacint Manoliu of Romania, who is a geotechnical engineer based at the Technical University of Bucharest.  He has strong involvement in pan-European activity to promote high-level educational standards.

Georges Pilot of France, formerly a Director of the Laboratoire of the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees, who retains a keen interest in research activity.  

Diana Maxwell has been ECCE’s  Secretary General since 2001, having previously held the position of Deputy Secretary for over seven years. 

Hermann Sturm of the Deutsche Sektion des ECCE is an Honorary Vice-President and is based in Munich, the capital of the German State of Bavaria. 

 

MEMBERSHIP OF ECCE

ECCE comprises national organisations which represent the interests of professional civil engineers.  Only one organisation may represent each country which is a member of ECCE.  At present our membership comprises:

Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary,  Ireland, Italy, Lithuania,  Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia,  Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Initial enquiries about ECCE’s activities should be made to your representative organisation or to the Secretariat.  National organisations in EU/EFTA countries wishing to enquire about membership of ECCE should contact the ECCE Secretariat for a full application pack. 

We regret that we do not have any individual members.  Individuals wishing to play a part in ECCE Task Force activities should contact their national representative - our members are always happy to have additional expertise and support for our activities.

ECCE News on-line: ECCE news has appeared on-line since 1998.  In 2002 we expanded our web-site to make Task Force activity and information, as well as major technical briefings, available to all.  We are still in the process of developing our on-line activity and welcome your comments on site content.
